About the client
Sajjad Husain Law Associates
A law firm with decades of High Court and Supreme Court practice was running client relationships on WhatsApp. We built a web portal and mobile app that give clients a reliable view of their own matters.
- Client background
- A legal consultancy with decades of High Court and Supreme Court experience and almost no digital footprint.
- Business model
- Professional services practice; the platform serves existing clients and attracts new enquiries.
- Target audience
- Clients of the firm, plus people searching for legal updates in Hindi or English.
Research & discovery
What we learned before building
Discovery ran before a line of production code. These are the findings that changed the brief.
User Research
Interviews with the firm's clients revealed the anxiety was informational, not legal. People did not need more documents; they needed to know their matter had moved. That reframed the product from a document store into a status feed with documents attached.
Competitor Analysis
Indian legal portals index judgments for lawyers, not clients. Search assumed you already knew the terminology, which is precisely the barrier an ordinary client faces.
Market Analysis
Legal search in India is bilingual in practice. Queries mix Hindi and English, often transliterated inconsistently, so exact-match search fails the people who need it most. Handling that properly was the differentiator.
Journey Mapping
Following a matter from filing to hearing showed updates were generated by the firm but never reached the client except by message. Giving staff a publishing tool they would actually use mattered more than any client-side feature.
